Obv: Laureate head of Zeus right. Rev: Tyche seated right on rocky outcropping, holding palm branch; at feet, river-god Orontes swimming right; EK (date) in right field. McAlee 85; RPC I 4242.

Varus took his own life in AD 9, following the defeat of his three legions in the Teutoburg forest massacre.
